St Andrews Beach Brewery
Our motivation is simple; we love making great beer at our Mornington Peninsula home. But with our venue once a world-class horse training facility, we are not your average brewery.
We brew on-site using the finest aroma hops and heirloom variety malt to ensure each beer is full of flavour and character.
At St Andrews Beach Brewery, life is simple and uncomplicated. Located on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula, we draw inspiration from our heritage and surroundings so we can brew one of life’s pleasures: craft beer.
Our 38-hectare property was where Australia’s horse racing greats were trained – Makybe Diva, Mummify, and Miss Andretti have all called our stables home. Our stables are named after the champions who once resided here, and now house a new breed of champions in the form of craft beer.
A 1,200 metre race track is where you’ll find 8,000 apple and pear cider trees growing alongside and hops, not horses. Our pristine farmland allows us to operate as a fully functioning farm, and brew some seriously good craft beer.
St Andrews Beach Brewery is situated on a 38-hectare property near the back beaches of Gunnamatta. Formerly known as ‘Markdel’, the Freedman Brother’s training facility has since become a world class brewery, where the history runs deep and the brews are champions themselves.
In the mid-2000s, the property housed up to 80 thoroughbred horses, with a 1,200-metre grassed track and swimming pool. Over 100 Group One winners called the stables home, including multiple Melbourne Cup Caulfield Cup, and Cox Plate Golden Slipper champions. Our history runs deep in all that we do – our craft beers pay homage to our heritage, and our facilities celebrate champions that have been and gone.
We love craft beer. And we love sharing a beer with our friends and family, our neighbours, and visitors who make their way down to the Peninsula.
After a significant facelift, we’ve converted what was once a world class racing stables into a brewery that we’re proud to call home. Here you’ll find private stables that once housed Group One racehorse champions, an outdoor courtyard that gets only the best of the afternoon’s rays, oh – and our brewhouse, located behind the bar and on display for all. It doesn’t get much fresher than that.
Enjoy a cold beer, sample our menu, and get to know the locals who’ve helped make this brewery what it is today.
Our brewery is underpinned by our philosophy to make the best tasting craft beer on the Mornington Peninsula.
Every one of our craft beers is unpasteurised and brewed on site using our state of the art 25-hectolitre brewhouse. We source the finest heirloom variety malt and aromatic hops from local hop farms in Victoria and Tasmania, as well as our own backyard. Pale Ale, Australian Lager, Pilsner, Session Ale, and IPA are all made on site, with seasonal beers served on tap at the brewery’s bar.
From paddock to brewhouse – we oversea it all to ensure that we make only the finest quality, thirst-quenching craft beer. Every drop is packaged on site, with our own kegging and canning lines to ensure that each beer’s unique flavour combinations shine through.
Being based on the Mornington Peninsula, we’re surrounded by an abundance of fresh produce. It’s what inspired us to do what we do – we’re all about celebrating the fruits of our labour and sharing only the best of the Peninsula’s offering.
Our surroundings and location on the Mornington Peninsula has shaped our modern Australian cuisine, the perfect accompaniment to our range of beers. Indulge in a small dish along side your afternoon pale ale, or get together with your friends and family to enjoy a brewery classic. However you do it, there’s no better way than with a SABB beer in hand.
Here at the brewery, we make everything from scratch – and the same goes with our menu. We like to celebrate the fruits of our labour by showcasing fresh produce from our backyard, or celebrating that which is grown locally by our neighbours.
Our menu changes with the seasons, ensuring that we only use the freshest local produce that doesn’t compromise on flavour and the environment.
