Step inside NZ's most luxurious homes! The NZ House & Garden Tours are highly-anticipated and attract people from across the country. So for the first time ever, Stuff Travel has a weekend getaway with an exclusive self-drive package to make the most of these dynamic destinations.

The tours sell out quickly, however, with this package you are guaranteed a ticket as part of the new self-drive mini-breaks that also include a free day to explore that destination at your pace. It allows you to design your perfect weekend – it may be the local farmers markets, art galleries, shopping or even a game of golf – knowing transport and accommodation are taken care of.

"These weekend getaways are very much in keeping with a relaxed, social, engaging style that emulates the pages of NZ House & Garden," NZ House & Garden Tours event manager, Nadia Isaacs, says. "They are the perfect excuse to see a new city, revisit one of your favourite places or make it a central location to draw in friends or family from afar."

Being held in March and April next year, the popular NZ House & Garden Tours showcase properties in Nelson, Wanaka and Clevedon in south Auckland, as well as Manawatu for the first time in its 14-year history.

Each season four to five locations are selected, reflecting the richness in local design flair and style.

Tour-goers have a full day to experience eight to 10 properties at their own pace. Experience a wide range of homes and garden styles, from glass-fronted, architecturally-designed new builds to restored heritage homes, through sprawling glades to manicured inner-city manicured gardens. Each location features The Hub, with refreshments and a boutique shopping experience.

"No two tours are the same as we choose properties that we have not featured in the tour before, a diverse range of beautifully curated homes and gardens, making it a truly unique experience," Nadia says.

"The highlight of these tours is the variety of houses showcased – there's definitely something for everyone. It's such a unique experience getting to look inside how other people live, their design styles, interesting art collections, clever renovations and use of space, and just to draw inspiration for your next DIY project.

Make the most of your tour with these limited Stuff weekend getaway packages. The self-drive 2-night, 3-day packages include accommodation, car rental & insurance, a three-course welcome dinner, two breakfasts and a NZ House & Garden Tour ticket for the location of your choice – Nelson, Wanaka or Manawatau. Packages start from $659 per person.

The NZ House and Garden Tours are New Zealand's largest and most-established charity house tours, with proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. The series would not be a success without the support of hundreds of Breast Cancer Foundation volunteers who help at the tours – often people whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
