The tour begins with a city tour of our national cultural heritage where you can see the traditional old houses called Sobrados. After we visit Salinas de S. Jorge and the natural lava harbour where you can enjoy the freshness of the clear waters off the black sandy beach. Please bring your bathing suit We then head to Ribeira Filipe, stopping at one of the highest spots in the area. There you can appreciate the amazing view and see the numerous small coffee plantations and fruit and vegetable gardens which enrich the land and give color to the landscape.

Then a stop at the Bao Bab (Calabaceira), a chance to admire one of this Island’s oldest trees (approximately 200 year old). The fruit of the ‘Calabaceira Tree’ is used to make the typical regional juice Ponche bearing the same name. You then get the chance to taste the Calacabeira Ponche. After we visit the island’s oldest church São Lourenço Church originally built in the late 16th century. Today the building is taken care of by the Capuchinho Priests who have an important role in training the communities’ youth. Next to the church there is a cemetery bearing the same name. The important proprietors on the island formerly used it.
