    Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall is an impressive monument in memory of President Chiang Kai-shek. Surrounded by white walls with blue-tiled roof, the park contains an archway, a museum, a square, and a garden.

    National Palace Museum is one of the most-visited museums in the world. This museum houses nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese artworks over multiple dynasties. Beside the permanent exhibits, there are temporary exhibits from time to time. The Southern Branch of National Palace Museum in Chiayi City was established in 2015, aimed to balance cultural resources between north and south of Taiwan.

    Longshan Temple is founded by the immigrants from Fukien in 1738, this ancient temple was built to dedicate the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy (Kuan-in in Chinese). The most well-known about this temple is that the statue of Kuan-in has survived the bombing during the air raid in 1945.

    Also known as Herb Alley, which is just around the corner from Longshan Temple.

    It is a small alley with shops that sell all types of herbs for more than 100 years. Do not miss the opportunity to try some Chinese herbal drinks!

    Formally known as 101 Taipei Financial Center Corp., this skyscraper was once the tallest building in the world, about 508m tall, with an observatory deck on the 88th, 89th and 91st floor. Before dinner, enjoy panoramic night view of the city.

    Beitou Library is located in Beitou Park and near Beitou Hot Spring Museum, this beautiful library was selected by travel website When On Earth as one of the 10 Coolest Examples of “Green Buildings”, and the famous online culture magazine Flavorwire as one of The 25 Most Beautiful Public Libraries in the World.

    Stop At: Beitou Hot Spring Museum, No.2 Zhongshan Road, Beitou District, Beitou, Taipei Taiwan

    Beitou Hot Spring Museum was built during the Japanese colonial era. The Tudor-style building has a brick and wood facade and black tile roofing, the 1st level is consisted with a small bath and a large bath with a piece of Hokutolite Stone weighing 800 kilograms displayed at a corner. The 2nd level is consisted with a huge Tatami lobby and a balcony with a special exhibition area that has early Taiwanese film documents displayed. This is a good spot to learn about Beitou's rich hot spring culture and history.

    Stop At: Beitou Thermal Valley(Hell Valley), Zhongshan Road, Near Wenquan Road, Beitou, Taipei Taiwan

    Geothermal Valley is not far away from the library, which is one of the sources that supply this area’s hot spring. Because of the high temperature, the sulfuric steam fog rises from the pool’s surface; hence it is also called Hell Valley or Ghost Lake.

    Stop At: Yangmingshan National Park, Jhuzihhu Rd, Beitou District, Beitou, Taipei 112 Taiwan

    Yangmingshan National Park was established in the year of 1985 as the third of the nine national parks. The whole area is composed of an assemblage of volcanic landforms, such as crater lake, fumaroles, lava plateau and more.

    Ciandao Lake (literally means Thousand Island Lake) is the catchment area of Feitsui Reservoir, which is surrounded by hills and creates an unique scenery – a lake with thousands of islands.

    Stop At: Elephant Mountain (aka Nangang District Hiking Trail), Lane 150, Songren Rd., Xinyi District, Taipei Taiwan

    This mountain looks like an elephant’s head from a distance, hence the name. It is also a popular photo stop for a panoramic view of Taipei City, where you can even have a look at the entire building of Taipei 101.

    Stop At: Pingxi, Pingxi, New Taipei

    Pingxi is one of these small towns that were once prosperous due to the coal mining industry in the 1960s. The last coal mine closed in 1997, many of the residents moved out, and these towns became silent and desolated. Even though the golden age may be long gone, Pingxi becomes well-known for being the film location of some movies and TV commercials.

    Sky Lantern launch in Taiwan originates from Shifen in Pingxi District. Nowadays, the lanterns are used as symbols of peace and good fortune, the world-renowned Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival is a big yearly event that draws hundreds of thousands of people every year.

    Stop At: Shifen Waterfall, No.10 Gankeng Road, Nanshan Village, Pingxi, New Taipei 226 Taiwan

    Shifen Waterfall is the biggest cascading fall in Taiwan. It is also a popular scenic attraction and easily accessible by foot from Shifen Train Station. If the weather is good, it creates a rainbow as it splashes into the lake.

    Stop At: Jiufen Old Street, Jiufen Old Street, New Taipei

    Jiufen was once flourished in the 1940s due to the gold mining industry, even though the golden age has long gone, this small town still has lots of stories to tell. The movie “A City of Sadness” directed by award winning director Hou Hsiao-hsien, made Jiufen once again brought to people’s attention, and has become the most popular tourist spot in Northern Taiwan.
