One Day Mini Cruise to Chrissi Island

Mini cruise to an earthly paradise located on the Libyan Sea in the south of Crete. The blue colors of the sky and the sea blend to make the golden sand magical that contrasts with the green of the centuries-old cedars.
It is a flat island famous for the color of its waters, which resemble those of tropical seas, with infinite shades of blue, azure and turquoise. The color of the sea is enhanced by that of the beaches made up of pink mother-of-pearl sand created by the natural crushing of countless shells. Precisely this gives the island one of its two names: Chrissì - golden. The other name is Gaiduronìsi - donkey island with an ancient custom of bringing old donkeys to die on the island.

Stop At: Chrissi Island, Ierapetra, Crete Greece

Our tour begins by arriving at the port of Ierapetra, the southernmost city in Europe where we embark on the boat that will take us to Chrissi, in front of the southern shores of Crete which flow into the Libyan Sea. This 6km2 flat islet, famous for its tropical waters is located 8km from the coast. The island is a protected area and boasts a forest with large juniper and cedar trees that laps the golden pink sand beaches, a tone due to the thousands of shells crushed into tiny pieces that have mixed with the sand. The beauty of the beaches of the island of Chrissi is disarming: the small sandy bays alternate with others of sand and pebbles and are reminiscent of the Caribbean sand expanses. It is said that years ago Gianni Agnelli wanted to buy it to make it the seat of a tourist village. The islet has remained the property of the state, ready to welcome visitors who love nature and wild and unspoiled beaches every year.
