    Meet your guide in the city center - at the Chkalov monument and start your tour of the city's central highlights.

    Immerse yourself in breathtaking scenery and pay homage to the first man to fly directly from Europe to North America via the North Pole at Chkalov Monument. By flying his plane from Moscow to Vancouver, Washington, in 1937, Valery Chalkov pioneered the polar route, earning him the status of a hero in the Soviet Union. Chalkov was born in a town close to Nizhny Novgorod and after his premature death the city chose to honor him with an impressive monument on its kremlin. From the plateau on which the monument is located you can gaze over the confluence of the Volga and Oka rivers. Leading up to the site is an elegantly designed row of more than 500 steps, also dedicated to Chalkov.

    Climb to the top of Chkalov Staircase for a view of the Volga River. Built during the Soviet era, the construction of the massive staircase was controversial because of the monumental cost, as well as the use of German prisoners of war as labor. Today, the staircase has become one of the city's most popular landmarks.

    Minin and Pozharsky Square is the city's central square, named in honour of Kozma Minin and Prince Dmitry Pozharsky who led the people’s militia that liberated Moscow from the Polish-Lithuanian invasion during the Time of Troubles at the beginning of the seventeenth century.

    Cathedral of the Archangel Michael is the oldest cathedral in Nizhny Novgorod, it dates back to the founding of the city.

    The memorial complex "Eternal Flame" was opened in 1965 for the 20th anniversary of the end of World War II in honor of the fallen defenders of the city. The complex is located on the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.

    This package provides a platform with eternal flame in the middle, which is surrounded by two stelae. One of them located plated wreaths that symbolize soldiers missing, the second shows the two soldiers and the start date and the end of the war. On the reverse side inflicted death toll residents.
