Lemon Valley Journey

this is an initiative inviting you on a journey to one of the most wonderful landscapes of Palestine, Aboud. The Palestinian village of Aboud is located 30 km northwest of Ramallah, sitting 450 meters above sea level. also known as the “City of Flowers.” The village has a beautiful mountainous landscape cultivated with olive trees. Rich in natural resources as well as historical treasures. The village's main economy relies on olive, olive oil. most of the people in the village travel to Ramallah daily to work in the governmental sections as well as private ones, with very low salaries plus the expenses of daily transportation, they have changed throughout the years from farmers to employees, because the village has been shut down from many entrances to it, as it used to be a trade road in the past, considered to be part of the Jesus Trail, the village hosts great religious importance, capturing its name ABOUD from the many places of worship.

      Stop At: Aboud
      1.Church of Saint Barbara (built in the late fourth century AD)
      on high hill embracing the oldest churches dating back to the Byzantine period, the Monastery of St. Barbara, the remains of this archaeological church, there is at the bottom of the church a group of caves and tombs carved in the rock.

      2. "Al-Maqatie" ( dating back to the fourth century AD)
      The area of Al-Maqate'e, which includes archaeological tombs, and an area of stones cut in a beautiful geometric way, dating back to the fourth century AD. The Romans used to cut the rocks to make rock tombs and to build the ancient churches in the village.

      3. the church of the dormation of the thekotoss
      Considered to be one of the most ancient churches in Palestine, as you can find it the Aramaic typography on stone that mentions the time of its building in addition to a discovery of mosaic.
      4.Lemon Valley & The Blue Spring
      The lemon valley in aboud has earned its name of the plenty lemon trees in it, it's also rich in Plant diversity, rare wild plants such as "Plantago", "thyme", and plant "Ghashia", and "Ghashia night" and "Anemone".
