Therefore it might also be a perfect place for young kids to play in. And for die-hard sunbathers it is the perfect place to lay cool in the water while getting a tan!

Even though the origins of this strange way of fishing is yet unknown, this may be a good opportunity to chat up a few fishermen who take pride in this unique technique. The fishermen here guard their fishing poles with their lives and hand them down from one generation to another. Fishermen found on stilts are those who do not have access to sophisticated equipment for fishing. These men can make a living simply with the help of two wooden poles to make a stilt. This picturesque view of stilt fishermen is a huge attraction for tourists and is on their list of ‘things to do in Sri Lanka’ .
