      Stop At: Anjar Citadel, Anjar Lebanon

      Learn about the city of Anjar was founded by Caliph Walid I at the beginning of the 8th century. The ruins reveal a very regular layout, reminiscent of the palace-cities of ancient times, and are a unique testimony to city planning under the Umayyads.

      Stop At: Chateau Ksara, Ksara, Zahle Lebanon

      Founded in 1857, Château Ksara is one of Lebanon’s oldest wineries and an ever-popular stop on Bekaa Valley tours. Situated at around 3,280 feet (1,000 meters) above sea level, the estate has vineyards across Lebanon. Star of the show at the winery, besides the wines themselves, are the historic 1.5-mile (2-kilometer) cave cellars.

      Château Ksara visits generally begin with a short tour of the winery, progress into the Roman-era caves that hold wines from as far back as 1918, and finish with a tasting. Prices vary depending on the caliber and quantity of wines you taste.

      Visit and learn about The Stone of the Pregnant Woman (Arabic: Hajar el Hibla) or Stone of the South is a Roman monolith in Baalbek (ancient Heliopolis), Lebanon. Together with another ancient stone block nearby, it is among the largest monoliths ever quarried.

      Baalbeck, Lebanon's greatest Roman treasure, can be counted among the wonders of the ancient world.

      As early as 9000 BC, Baalbek was a place for worship and became a cornerstone of ancient civilizations. Located in modern day Lebanon, the ruins stand tall as an archaeological wonder with towering monuments and impressive columns.

      As significant holy grounds, Baalbek was a center for Mesopotamian, Roman, Christian and Islamic worship as each group introduced their own heritage to this sacred monument.

      Stop At: Palmyra Hotel, Baalbek, Lebanon

      Since it was built in 1874, the Hotel Palmyra has never been closed, not for one day, with windows overlooking the ancient Roman temple ruins of Heliopolis.
