Day 2: Maasai mara game reserve full day tour.

Stop At: Maasai Mara National Reserve, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Rift Valley Province
Full day game viewing in the park – or morning and afternoon game viewing is set aside today for game viewing in Kenya's finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve (Your interest is taken into account- so keep your cameras ready for any action).
Your morning and afternoon (or full day) game drives take you to the park to look for Africa's Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange-tinged sunsets that make spectacular photos while you are in the savanna grassland.
Much game is coming at your doorstep when you are in the park leaving you with only one option of counting your blessings that nature holds for you as you view them in their natural habitat where they roam freely.
Maasai Mara game reserve covers 1,510km² of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodlands, following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in southwest Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife roaming freely.
Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara Park you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common.
The ultimate action here is without a doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration in the month of late June, July, August and September when millions of these grazers move north (Maasai mara game reserve) from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October for the new life circle to begin after a life-threatening move across the strong jaws of East Africa crocodile found within the mara river and Talek river is amazing experience. Though Lack is a determining factor for one to see this since it is nature-driven and if you happen to visit Kenya in June, July, Aug, September, and October.
In reality, there is no such single entity as ‘the migration ’. The wildebeest are the migration – there is neither start nor finish to their endless search for food and water, as they circle the Serengeti and The Maasai mara Mara ecosystem in a relentless sequence of life and death. ‘The only beginning is the moment of birth,’ notes acclaimed East African author and photographer Jonathan Scott, who has spent the better part of the last 30 years chronicling the events of the Serengeti and Maasai Mara. Similarly, the only ending is death.
There is little predictability about the migration, and questions as to which is the best month are to view it are likely to get different answers from different authors. According to Scott, ‘one could spend a lifetime in the Serengeti-Mara waiting for the typical migration. The finer details of the herds’ movements are always different. It is a dynamic process that defies predictions: no two years are ever quite the same.’
Safari not only meant for viewing the flora and fauna but also the cultural part of it which makes part of your adventure. At an extra cost if you so wish take your time and visit the Maasai village - cultural experience that shall bring you very close to the reality of “The White Masai (German: Die weiße Massai) which is a 2005 film directed by Hermine Huntgeburth” The rest of the evening shall be at the selected accommodations in a natural setting in Masai Mara on both nights.
Note: That balloon ride is also possible in this park very early in the morning. It is 430 USD per person. We can also arrange this for you if you.
