  • Day 1: Bangalore to Kanchipuram Drive (Kanchipuram Sightseeing)

    Stop At: Ekambareswarar Temple, Ekambaranathar Sannidhi Street, Kanchipuram 631502 India
    We visit Ekambareswarar of Pallava dynasty to appreciate these ancient architectural wonders. These were built in 600 AD and are magnificent specimens of the Pallava style of architecture.
    Duration: 20 minutes

    Stop At: Kailasanatha Temple, Kanchipuram India
    Kailasanathar means the Lord of Mt.Kailash dedicated to Lord Siva. Pallava King Rajasimha started the work and Mahendravarman III completed it in the 8th century. It is made up of a Typical Pallava style of a Pyramidal Tower, pillared halls and a vestibule more than 50 small shrines are enshrined in this temple complex. It is believed, by visiting this temple, devotees get rid of the ill effects of Planet Ketu. The Shiva lingam in this temple is 10 feet high. Famous for its magnificient Vimana, the gopuram over the sanctum sanctorum. It speaks volumes of architectural beauty that flourished in the reign of Pallava king. The foundation of the temple is laid on granite tones while the superstructure is carved out of sandstone. Currently the temple is well maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The temple is open from 6.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 4.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

    The temple was built by king nandivarman in the 8th century.built a few years after the kailasanatha, this temple, dedicated to lord vishnu, marks the next stage in the development of dravidian culture. the cloisters inside the outer wall consisting of a colonnade of lion pillars represent the first phase in the evolution of the grand thousand-pillar halls of later years.

    Stop At: Varadharaja Perumal Temple, Vishnu Kanchi, Kanchipuram 631501 India
    This temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, was built by the Vijayanagar kings. Its hundred pillared hall has exquisite sculptures. Among them is a massive chain carved out of a single stone. The precinct contains many other impressive temples.

    Arjuna's Penance is the splendor of Mamallapuram. It is a huge rock in the canvas unfolding a scene of gods and demigods, birds, beasts and natural scenery.

    Stop At: Pancha Rathas, Kancheepuram District, Mahabalipuram 603104 India
    Panch Rathas, also known as The Five Rathas, is a exemplary set of rock temples. They are excellent examples of the evolution of Dravidian style architecture. These temples are built in the same shape as pagodas, and greatly resemble Buddhist shrines and monasteries. The rathas are associated with the great epic Mahabharata

    This is unique rock cut cave on the seashore on which the tiger sculptures are carved.

    Stop At: Varaha Cave Temple, Kancheepuram District, Mahabalipuram India
    Varaha Mandapam panel depicts a story from ten incarnation of God Vishnu, he took an avatars of Vamana, the divine dwarf, to subdue the arrogant demon king Mahabali.

    Stop At: Krishna's Butter Ball, E Raja St, Mahabalipuram 603104 India
    Krishna's Butter Ball is a gigantic granite boulder resting on a short incline which has approximately 6 meters high and 5 meters wide with weighs around 250 tons.

    Stop At: Mahishasuramardini Cave, Mahabalipuram India
    Mahishasuramardini Mandapam panel on the wall shows the battle scene of goddess Durga with demon Mahisha. Mahisha the buffalo headed demon was so powerful that all the felt helpless and they approached Durga.
