13 Day Intrepid Colombia Passage – Medellin To Cartagena

This 2 Day plan of the Zona Cafetera is not for the light-hearted, as it includes a 6 hour hike through the Acaime Ranges, including the Wax Palm Forrest of the Cocora Valley reaching the height of 2,860m / 9,383ft (so you’ll need a good jacket or sweater and a good level of fitness is recommended for this hike), the following day will continue with more walking, but this time at a more relaxed pace through the Fauna and Flora Sanctuary of Otún Quimbaya. Here you will be discovering a sub-Andean forest, listening to and looking out for the 300+ species of birds and the howler monkeys that call this place home. Your focus will be on endemics, such as the Bar-crested Antshrike, Crested Ant-Tanager, Multi-colored Tanager, Torrent Duck, Torrent Tyrannulet, Cauca Guan, and the Chestnut – Wood-Quail.
